TALES of XAYAR by Uyghur author AISHA KASHGARI
is a collection of one dream, nine poems and one novella set in the exotic locale of East Turkestan/Uyghur Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Province, Western China– the homeland of the indigenous Uyghur people, who populate the cities and rural areas alongside the temperamental sands of the Taklimakan Desert and beneath the stunning peaks of the Tian Shan, Altun Shan, and Kunlun mountain ranges.
Both visceral and lyrical, Kashgari's TALES OF XAYAR–the author's first book published in the US–depicts the magical world and conflicted spirit of young, strong-willed Arzu as she makes her way through the elemental, sometimes phantasmagoric experiences of traditional village life as it starts to clash with the pressures of her own awakening and the modern world.
Scheduled for release in Fall 2010. Available in limited edition hardcover and paperback.l
